Use Spools with DaVinci Resolve

First, install the Spools Mac app.

Settings

Keep everything Resolve writes on your Mac. Only footage goes on Spools.

  • DaVinci Resolve → Preferences → System → Media Storage: put the first location on your Mac. Render cache, optimized media, and proxies go there.
  • File → Project Settings → Master Settings → Working Folders: keep cache files and gallery stills on your Mac.
  • Keep your project library on your Mac.

Import

Import files from ~/Spools as you normally would. Playback speed depends on your connection. Generating optimized media or proxies downloads the whole file.
