Let your AI app work with your Spools files.

Connect an AI app to Spools over MCP. You need a General Motion account with Spools access. The Mac app is not required.

Connect

The app must support remote MCP and OAuth. If it asks for a connection type, choose Streamable HTTP.

Open your AI app’s MCP or connector settings. Add a remote server named General Motion.
Enter this server URL:

Sign in with your General Motion account.
Try the prompt below.

Use browser sign-in, not an API key. The URL is for the AI app, not a browser.

Ask your AI app:

Show my Spools Drives. Let me choose one, then list its files. Do not change anything.

Then try:

Find files with “interview” in the name and give me a download link for the one I choose.

Download links expire. Ask for a new one if a link stops working.

Find files by name, not by words inside them.
Read small text files and get download links for other files.
Create folders, move or copy files, and move files to Trash when your account has permission.
Upload files if your AI app can read local files and send HTTP uploads. Not every app can do this.

MCP sees only the current version of a file. Check planned writes before approving them.

No sign-in prompt: check that your AI app supports remote MCP and OAuth. Copy the server address exactly as shown above.
Sign-in failed: disconnect and try again with the account that has Spools access.
Missing files or tools: check the server address and ask the AI app which organization and Drive it is using.
Cannot change a file: your Drive may be read-only.
